Day 1: Sfax – Matmata – Chenini – Ksar Ghilane

Start your adventure with an early morning departure from Sfax, heading south through the changing landscapes of Tunisia toward the Sahara.

Matmata

Discover the famous Berber village of Matmata, renowned for its unique underground troglodyte dwellings carved into the soft rock. Learn about the traditional lifestyle of the Berber communities and visit Sidi Driss, the iconic Star Wars filming location.

Chenini Berber Village

Continue to Chenini, one of southern Tunisia's most spectacular Berber hilltop villages. Explore its ancient stone houses, cave dwellings, centuries-old granaries and whitewashed mosque while enjoying panoramic views over the surrounding landscape.

Ksar Ghilane Oasis

Continue to Ksar Ghilane, where lush palm trees rise from the golden Sahara dunes. Discover this peaceful oasis, famous for its natural hot spring and spectacular desert surroundings.

For an additional fee, enjoy an optional camel ride across the dunes or a quad-bike adventure toward the nearby Roman Fort of Tisavar.

Tataouine

Continue toward Tataouine, a region famous for its dramatic landscapes, Berber heritage and fortified ksour. The town also gave its name to the fictional planet Tatooine in the Star Wars universe.

Ksar Ouled Soltane

Visit the spectacular Ksar Ouled Soltane, one of Tunisia's best-preserved fortified granaries. Discover its impressive multi-level ghorfas, once used to store grain, olive oil and other valuable goods. The site is also associated with the Star Wars saga.

Medenine

Continue to Medenine, a historic caravan town that once played an important role in trade between the Sahara and the Mediterranean. Discover its traditional ghorfas and learn about the architectural heritage of southern Tunisia.
